How it works
How Liverpool Gold valuations work
A simple, transparent process. Online estimates are provisional — a final offer is always made in branch after physical testing.
- 01
Bring or send your items
Visit the Netherton or Toxteth branch, or upload clear photographs through our enquiry form.
- 02
Items are tested for purity
Each piece is checked for hallmarks and tested for carat (9ct, 14ct, 18ct, 22ct, 24ct), or assessed individually if unmarked.
- 03
Items are weighed accurately
Calibrated scales are used in front of you. Stones, clasps and non-gold parts are accounted for fairly.
- 04
Offer calculated and explained
Your final offer is based on purity, weight, condition and the live precious-metal price. You're free to accept or decline.
What affects the price you're offered?
- Purity (carat) — higher carats contain more pure gold per gram.
- Weight — measured accurately in grams on calibrated scales.
- Condition — broken jewellery is bought by weight; intact resaleable pieces may be worth more.
- Stones and non-gold parts — accounted for separately and fairly.
- Live precious-metal price — the spot price for gold, silver or platinum at the time of valuation.
