FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about selling gold to Liverpool Gold. Can't find what you need? Call your nearest branch.

Will Liverpool Gold beat every quote?+

We'll try to beat any genuine local quote, but we cannot guarantee that every quote will be beaten. Final offers depend on physical inspection, testing, accurate weight, purity, condition and the live precious-metal price.

Can I receive an estimate from photographs?+

Yes. Upload clear photographs through our enquiry form and we'll send an initial indication. Any photograph-based estimate is provisional and confirmed only after items are inspected in branch.

Is the valuation free?+

Yes — branch valuations are free and carry no obligation to sell.

Do I need an appointment?+

Appointments are not normally required. For larger quantities or higher-value pieces it can be helpful to call ahead.

What identification should I bring?+

Please bring valid photo ID. Identification may be required before completing a transaction.

Can I sell broken gold?+

Yes — broken chains, single earrings, damaged rings and scrap gold are all bought by weight and purity.

Do you buy gold without a hallmark?+

Yes. Unmarked gold is tested for purity in branch before an offer is made.

How is my gold tested?+

We test for hallmarks first and then verify purity using established jewellery-trade testing methods.

How is the value calculated?+

Purity (carat) × weight × the live precious-metal price, taking condition and any non-gold parts into account.

How quickly will I be paid?+

Payment is arranged on the day in most cases, subject to branch availability and the payment method used.

Can I visit either Liverpool branch?+

Yes — choose whichever is more convenient. Netherton serves North Liverpool and Sefton; Toxteth serves South Liverpool and the city centre.

Can I post my gold?+

Yes — through the HighStreetGold postal service. See our Free Gold Pack page.

What happens if I decline an offer?+

You take your items home with you, with no charge.

Do you buy silver and platinum?+

Yes — silver jewellery, silver coins and bars and platinum are all considered.

Can you value diamonds and gemstones?+

Yes — diamond and gemstone jewellery is valued individually in branch.
